The Ministry of Housing and Water has commenced the advertising stages for the construction of the four-lane highway from Eccles to Great Diamond on the East Bank Demerara, and has invited eligible contractors to tender their bids.
In an advertisement in Thursday’s edition of the Stabroek News, the Ministry of Housing and Water said that it is inviting seal bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the construction of a four-lane highway from Eccles to Great Diamond on the East Bank of Demerara in Region Four. The works are divided into 12 lots.
Minister Collin Croal, in brief comments, confirmed that this is the beginning of the project, which seeks to address traffic issues on the East Bank. He noted that the four-lane highway from Eccles, on the East Bank to Mandela Avenue, Georgetown is currently being constructed.
The total cost for the project is still unknown.
Construction period for the project is 15 months per Lot. Bids must be delivered to the Chairman, National Procurement and Tender Administration Board, at the Ministry of Finance on or before 9am on November 4th, 2021.
Interested bidders can obtain information from the Ministry’s project department and can inspect bidding documents there as well.
A bidder may submit bids for any or all of the lots for the project but only one lot will be awarded to any bidder in a project area. However, a bidder may be considered for award for more than one lot simultaneously. Pre-bid meetings will be held on September 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th and on October 5th and 12th at the Mocha Access Road on the East Bank and at the Central Housing and Planning Authority’s main office, Brickdam, Georgetown.
