The Ministry of Health (MoH) yesterday confirmed that another person who was infected with COVID-19 has died.
In a statement, the MoH identified the country’s latest COVID-19 fatality as an 81-year-old man from Region Three. He died while receiving care at a medical facility.
With his death, Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll stood at 610 on Saturday. Thus far, 64 persons have died from the virus during the month, with 19 being recorded in the past week.
Meanwhile, according to the COVID-19 dashboard, 180 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed from 2,004 tests, increasing the total number of cases recorded to date in the country to 25,147. Of the new cases, 10 were from Region Two, 39 from Region Three, 109 from Region Four, 5 from Region Five, 7 from Region Six, 6 from Region Seven, 2 from Region Eight and 1 each from regions Nine and Ten.
There were 28 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 104 in institutional isolation, 1,576 in home isolation and nine in institutional quarantine.
Based on the dashboards from last Sunday to yesterday, 926 new cases were confirmed during the week and 11,291 tests were done.
