A robbery suspect was left hospitalised on Friday after he was chased down and cornered by a woman who he and two others robbed in an attack at Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), three bandits on Friday afternoon robbed the woman of over $300,000 in cash and other valuables as she was returning home from a bank.
The attack occurred around 2.34 pm.
After being robbed, police said, the victim chased after the bandits car in her vehicle and forced them into a nearby drain.
This resulted in the capture of one of the bandits, while his two other accomplices escaped on foot.

The police said the victim resisted the men until one of them discharged a round in her direction. The bandits then snatched a brown envelope, which contained US$1500 in cash, which is equivalent to $290,000, an iPhone and several documents. They then rejoined the getaway car and drove away.
However, the police said the victim followed the car and managed to forced the vehicle into a nearby drain.
