West Indies Women will be looking to end with a win over South Africa Women today at 15.30 hours and draw the three-match WT20I series.
Adter the first match was abandoned due to rain, the visitors defeated West Indies Women by 50-runs to lead the series in Antigua.
Fast bowler, Shakera Selman, yesterday stated that the team was keen to keep a clean record in the Caribbean against South Africa in the format after winning their two-series against the visitors.
“We are looking to keep that undefeated streak. We hate to lose series, especially at home and we are going to try our best to draw the series. We have to go all out in the last T20,” she said after the second match.
Selman called on the main players to step up to the challenge that they know South Africa would be bringing.
She identified several areas of their game that went wrong in the second contest which she believes should be fixed if they are to win the final match.
“I think we were pretty much in control of most of the innings even though they didn’t lose a lot of wickets. I think we probably went wrong at the death again and probably went for a few runs in the last five overs but I still thought it was still a pretty good pitch that we should have been in to chase these runs,” she said.
The Bajan pacer pointed out that the hosts will have to avoid losing wickets at crucial stages of the match and work on building partnerships especially at the top of the order. In doing so, she highlighted that the batters will have to pace their innings well and avoid going too hard at the bowlers.
Selman also indicated that the bowlers will need to stick to the plan adding that the field placements need to be precise if they are to give themselves a chance.
