A minibus driver has been hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being injured in a head- on collision with a motor lorry on the Madewini Public Road, East Bank Demerara yesterday morning.
The injured man has been identified as Michael Daniels 31, a resident of Loo Creek, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
Police in a statement yesterday said that the accident occurred at around 3.45 am.
Daniels, the driver of minibus BZZ 6091 was motoring north on the western side of the public road at an allegedly fast rate while the truck driver of Greenfield, East Coast Demerara was travelling in the opposite direction.

It is alleged that the driver of the motor lorry swerved east in an attempt to avoid a collision but hit the front portion of the minibus.
As a result of the collision, both vehicles suffered damage and the driver of the minibus # BZZ 6091 was picked up by public-spirited citizens in a conscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
He was examined by a doctor on duty who admitted him as a patient.
