With the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic hindering the possibility of staging their elections since 2019, the East Coast Demerara Football Association (ECDFA) has confirmed that their constitutionally mandated electoral congress will occur September 22nd.
This was disclosed by an official correspondence which was signed by General Secretary Gidel Austin and sent to the entity’s membership. According to the release, the association will stage elections at the Beterverwagting (BV)/Quamina Primary School at 13:00hrs.
The deadline for submissions of prospective slates is September 12th.
The release stated, “Please note the Annual General Meeting and elections for office bearers for the next two years will be held on Sunday 26nd September 2021 at the BV/Quamina Primary School beginning at 13:00h sharp. Nomination of persons (slate) to be elected will close on Friday 12th September 2021 at 13:00h. Affiliation and Registration Fees for 2021 are due on or before 13:00h on Sunday 26th September 2021.”
The correspondence further stated that club affiliation to the association is required for participation in the voting process, adding that each club will only be allowed a solitary vote during the elections process.
“Be reminded that affiliation for 2021 is a prerequisite for clubs to be afforded voting rights. Each club can send as many as three representatives to the AGM but only one will be allowed to vote. Agenda will follow shortly,” the release stated.
Presently, the association is in the process of regulating its membership, as several clubs are scheduled to conduct their elections.
So far only Dynamic FC has hosted their elections. The other clubs that are scheduled to announce dates for their elections are: Plaisance, Beterverwagting, Buxton Stars, Melanie, Paradise, Golden Stars, Victoria Scorpions, and Mahaica Determinators. At the moment, the ECDFA executive committee comprises President, Alfred King; 1st Vice President, Gregory Wickham; 2nd Vice-President, Jillian Frank; 3rd Vice President, Mark Pertab; Treasurer, Kessa Nedd; and Committee Members, Raymond Daw, Kevin Tixey, and Delon Adams.
