Fort Ordnance parents protest after unvaccinated teachers locked out: A group of parents whose children attend the Fort Ordnance Primary School yesterday held a protest in front of the school, blocking traffic for some time, after teachers who are not vaccinated against COVID-19 were not allowed entry to the school compound. This newspaper was told that teachers who were vaccinated and allowed to enter the compound also joined their colleagues to show support, while teachers from the nearby Sheet Anchor Nursery also did the same. After sometime the parents and teachers left the location and as a result classes were not held yesterday at the Fort Ordnance Primary. One teacher said, “After the parents pulled their children out of class and started to protest everyone left.” The Ministry of Education has mandated that teachers be vaccinated against COVID-19 although enforcement of the measure has been inconsistent around the country and there has been resistance by both vaccine-hesitant persons and allies who object to mandatory vaccinations. In photo, some of the protestors with placards can be seen blocking traffic.
