The Guyana Police Force is investigating the killing of a miner at Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, who is suspected to have been stabbed during a robbery.
The deceased has been identified as Nelson Thomas, called ‘Nelo,’ 36, of Fourth Field, Kaneville, who had just hours before returned home from the interior for the registration of the birth of his newborn baby.
The police said at 7 pm the man deceased told his mother that he was going to visit his uncle in Second Street Kaneville.
A Kaneville resident later reported to the police that at 9.30 pm he was aroused by the voice of someone calling for him and upon checking he saw the now deceased motionless on the eastern side of his yard under a shed attached to his house. He was bloodied.
“It appears that the deceased was returning home when the suspect(s) attempted to rob him and stabbed him in the process,” the police said.
