Guyana’s Lennox ‘Too Sharp’ Allen suffered a 10th round KO loss to Kazakhastan’s, Aidos Yerbossynuly (16W (11KOs)-0) on Saturday when they matched gloves for the WBA (Interim) Super middleweight title.

Allen, the former World Boxing Association (WBA) Gold belt title holder, fought valiantly throughout the frenetic fight staged in Nursultan, Kazakhstan but seemingly ran out of gas in the 10th where he also hurt his opponent.

The orthodox Yerbossnuly pinned Allen against the ropes and was able to connect a hard right hand followed by a left hook that sent the Brooklyn-based southpaw to the canvas. Allen, visibly hurt, heard the referee’s count but showed no desire to get up. It was the first time he had received a knockout during his 17-year professional career. While Yerbossnuly remains undefeated, Allen’s record dropped to 22 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 14 knockouts.

Allen, who suffered his first professional defeat at the hands of David Morrell last August, was seeking redemption against Yerbossynuly in his backyard. A second successive loss, dulls ‘Too Sharp’s’ chances of securing a world title shot in the immediate future.

Calls to Allen’s phone for an immediate reaction went unanswered. However, Stabroek Sport will continue to reach out to the 36 year-old for a comment on his immediate plans for his boxing career.
