The police yesterday said that the body of a 24-year-old farmer was found floating on Tuesday in the Berbice River with what appeared to be a slit on his throat.
Dead is Kevin DeAbreu, 24, of Wiruni Village, Upper Berbice River.
According to the police, De Abreu was last seen imbibing with some friends at a shop after which he left in a boat in the said river on Sunday. On Tuesday his motionless body was found floating downwards in the Berbice River.
The police said, that the Deputy Toshao Randy Osbourne was immediately informed and he called the Kwakwani Police Station.
“Upon arrival of the Police the body was examined and it was discovered that the face was mutilated and what appears to be a wound was seen in the region of the neck”, the police’s report noted.
DeAbreu’s body was taken to the Kwakwani mortuary. A post-mortem examination is to be done.
