A fire of unknown origin that started at a Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden home yesterday is being investigated by the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
According to a GPF statement, the Blueberry Hill home of Orlene Holder, 35, and her five children, was allegedly set on fire at about 11:45 hrs yesterday. Holder, who is a housewife was visiting her children’s school at the time while the children were at home, the police said.
According to a neighbour, the children were heard screaming before they were rescued from the home. The neighbour told police that upon being alerted by the children’s screams, she looked out and saw smoke emanating from the house.
The neighbour then rushed over to the home and removed the children from the house. The Linden Fire Service was then summoned and was able to extinguish the fire, the police said.
