The Minister of Health yesterday stated that as long as the critical information on laminated COVID-19 vaccination booklets is visible, it is acceptable.
Dr Frank Anthony made these remarks during his daily COVID-19 update, where he was asked about businesses and other entities accepting laminated and reduced versions of the COVID-19 vaccination booklet. In response he emphasised that the main priority is for persons to ensure that the document is genuine.
“Basically we want people to know that the document is a genuine document but we also understand the challenges people face with walking around with this big card [booklet] and if it’s not laminated then it can easily get damaged,” he said.
To this end he noted that authorities have been “flexing” with the laminated versions of the booklet, however, he stressed that the particulars of the person must be seen. He noted that some persons have laminated their vaccination booklets or resized them quite nicely.
“So you can see whether the person got a first dose, second dose, and so forth, if you are able to do it in that way it helps. But if it’s just laminating it and just part of the information is being shown, the person who you are showing it to might have doubts whether it’s an authentic card or not,” Anthony said.
The health minister iterated that if it can be done in a way where all the relevant information is on display, it is acceptable.
