A year after being closed to the public, Grand Coastal Hotel at Le Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara, has announced that it will be reopening to accommodate guests and visitors.
The hotel, which closed last year to provide accommodation for oil and gas workers who had to be under quarantine, will be reopening from October 28.
In a statement announcing its reopening, the company also announced its hiring of Executive Chef Mau Marchan, a native of Ecuador with culinary expertise honed throughout South America. She will be heading the hotel’s Food & Beverage team.
Chief Executive Officer Kevin Daby also said management will be retrofitting and upgrading several facilities at the hotel to enhance the experience of guests and loyal customers.
“We will reward patience. We have plans to renovate the rooms, the bar, and a new outdoor spot is in the works. Our team is excited and ready to serve,” Daby was quoted as saying in the statement.
Additionally, the hotel assured that it has worked to implement all necessary COVID-19 measures to ensure guests feel safe and welcomed.
“We are incredibly grateful to our loyal customers who kept us in mind and waited during this difficult time for this reopening. We have done everything in our power to ensure our guests will feel safe. I want them to experience the high level of service they have come to know of our hotel and restaurant,” the CEO added.
It was noted that customers entering the premises will be required to show proof of vaccination.
Grand Costal Hotel was among several accommodation facilities that housed workers from the oil and gas sector who were required to be under quarantine before heading to offshore rigs to relieve fellow workers.
In the interim, the hotel used the facilities of the Caribbean Inn Hotel, located at Agriculture Road, Mon Repos, also on the East Coast of Demerara, to offer rooms, meals, catering and events.
