A man was beaten and robbed last Thursday evening at Goed Fortuin Housing Scheme.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the attack occurred at 7.45 pm as the 42-year-old man was driving a motorcar heading west through the Goed Fortuin Scheme.
A GPF release said while he was passing the suspects, who were on a pedal cycle at the southern side of the road on a bridge, he heard one of them shout, “Who is you coming through this area?” However, he continued driving in a western direction as he was heading to pick up a family member.
But the suspects followed the vehicle.
The man stopped his vehicle after one of the suspects then hit the victim’s vehicle with his hand. He exited his vehicle and one of the men then tossed the bicycle at him. They then approached the victim and dealt him several cuffs and kicks about his body, causing him to fall to the ground. He was then relieved of a cellphone valued $45,000, glasses valued $45,000, and $10,000 cash.
The men then made good their escape in an unknown direction. The matter was reported to the police, who said that checks were made for the suspects in the area but they could not be found.
