Dear Editor,
Over the years, we’ve seen the emergence of many private garbage disposal services. Despite various issues, a few continue to survive and provide a somewhat reasonable service. One of the most popular garbage disposal services is a service that somehow has managed to garner garbage collection services at most locations around Guyana, and at a cost. Throughout the period they’ve been in existence, I’ve noticed various issues and penned my concerns in various newspapers’ letter columns. Little has been done to address any of these issues.
Editor, one of the main problem is the fees they are charging. Each place that has a regular bin, have to pay $500 whether full or not. You have to pay extra if you have more garbage than what the bin holds, or you have the choice to choose a bigger bin with additional cost. The important question is why someone has to pay a private contractor for garbage removal when they are already paying rates and taxes. Did the NDCs and RDCs approve of this?
Sincerely,
Sahadeo Bates
