The remains of the burnt house

An intoxicated Upper Berbice River man was yesterday morning rescued from his burning home.

Police in a brief statement yesterday said the 28-year-old man was on the stairs of his home when he was rescued by neighbours.

According to the police report, the man’s neighbour a 62-year-old Machine Operator smelled something burning and immediately went to his verandah to investigate. When the man looked out he saw smoke emanating from his neighbour’s home and raised an alarm.
