Two employees of a Superbet facility are currently under of the microscope of law enforcement authorities for embezzlement.
Police Commander of Division 4 ‘A’, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Simon McBean on Wednesday confirmed the report of an embezzlement at the Superbet establishment owned by Wray’s Wholesale, Retail and Beverage Depot located at Aubrey Barker Street, South Ruimveldt.
This newspaper visited the Superbet on Wednesday and the cashier proceeded to give a graphic description of a brazen robbery executed by three persons armed with a gun and a knife at midday.
It turns out that only the cashier knew of a robbery at the Superbet. When this newspaper contacted the police and queried about a robbery at the Superbet and if any of the suspects had been captured, Commander Mc Bean pointed out that the police were never in possession of a report of a robbery at the Superbet, instead the police were in receipt of a report of an embezzlement at the said establishment.
Mc Bean said that the police had viewed Superbet’s CCTV footage but instead of a robbery being captured, the CCTV was displaying an active case of embezzlement being executed by an employee from the establishment. The Commander informed that the matter is under investigation.
