Half centuries from West Indies under-19 batsman, Matthew Nandu and Jeevanand Nauth guided Kaieteur International B to a seven-wicket win over United Titans and, in the process, securing the Scarborough Cricket League 50-over first-division title.

Set 158 for victory, Nandu and Nauth added 134 for the opening partnership in 27.3 overs to effortlessly set up the match in Kaieteur’s favor.

The waterfall-named club eased to their target in the 33rd over, only losing three wickets along the way.

Nandu top scored with 59 from 70 balls while hitting one six and five fours. This is the left-hander’s fourth consecutive half-century after scoring two for West Indies under-19 in England and one last weekend against Palace Panthers.

In an invited comment, Nandu said, “It’s important to be consistent when batting. It’s all about taking it ball-by-ball and playing every ball on its merit.”

Nauth, on the other hand, made 58 from 109 balls, decorated by one six and six fours.

While Nazir Shaikh picked up all three wickets for 28 runs, Titans did not help their cause, gifting 31 extras to the eventual champions.

Earlier, Farrukh Chodhry top scored with 36 from 60 balls with support coming from Roshan Ali Hemani (26) with whom he added 43 for the fourth wicket and Taimur Hussain (24). Ravindra Nauth bagged 3-48 while Matthew and Marcus Nandu as well as Arjuna Sukhu picked up two wickets each.
