West Coast Warriors showed their dominance with successive victories last weekend in the New York Cricket League/ Rockaway Group T20 League.
Warriors recorded a convincing 152-run win over Intruders before beating New York Zalmi by six wickets.
In the first match Warriors won the toss and opted to take first strike where they piled on 242 for three from their allotted 20 overs. They then dismissed Intruders for 90 in 17.3 overs.
Chandrapaul Persaud dominated Intruders, smacking 11 sixes and eight fours in an unbeaten 127 from just 56 balls.
When Akshaya Persaud fell for 11, Chandrapaul Persaud joined former Essequibo under-19 captain, Ameer Singh, to add 106 for the second wicket. Singh played the supporting role to the century maker but effortlessly clubbed five sixes and two fours during his 31-ball 52.
When Singh fell, Jonathan Rampersaud made a 15-run cameo, sharing in a third-wicket stand of 50 with Chandrapaul Persaud.
In the chase, national all-rounder, Akshaya Persaud returned to take 3-11 with his left-arm spin. He was supported by Shameer Khan (3-22), Cornelius Jaisingh (2-2) and Asraf Shafeek (2-21).
Kerry Ramlakhan top scored with 22 while Anthony Roopnarine
was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 15.
In the second match, Zalmi won the toss and decided to bat, posting 129 for seven from their full quota before Warriors eased to 131 for four with two balls to spare.
Ameer Khan was the pick of the Warriors bowling with 3-24 while Akshaya Persaud and Ushardeva Balgobin picked up a wicket each.
Dawood Zafar made 36 from 27 balls, laced with four sixes and one four while giving Zalmi a 61-run opening stand with Ahmed (18).
Balgobin then returned to smash five sixes during his 25-ball 41 not out. The former Demerara youth player added 50 for the fourth wicket with Ameer Khan (13) while Persaud (21) and Singh (18) supported.
