Bandits during the wee hours of yesterday carted off an undisclosed sum of cash and robbed two security officers when they invaded the head office of Cevon’s Waste Management Company on Mandela Avenue in Georgetown.
Police stated that at about 2am, a gang of seven men who were armed, entered the premises and held the guards at gunpoint.
The first victim was at his post in a guard hut in front of the building when he was approached from behind by two of the bandits who were armed with handguns and one said, “Don’t move or we gon kill you.”
The bandits then escorted the guard to the back, where the second guard was being held at gunpoint. Both guards, ages 56, and 64, were restrained while the men gained access to the building.
According to the report, two more men joined the gang by jumping the fence. The men then proceeded to the building and broke the glass door in a bid to gain entry. The security guards were taken into the building where they were tied up with duct tape.
At this point, the three others joined their accomplices in the building and relieved the guards of their cellular phones and managed to cart off the safe that was inside the building.
The suspects then exited the building and fled, leaving their victims bound. The two guards later managed to free themselves and raise an alarm.
The police subsequently checked the area for the bandits but came up empty-handed.
