Pastor robbed by armed bandits in home invasion

A seventy-one-year-old pastor and her caretaker were robbed yesterday morning of a number of valuable items when two bandits entered their premises and demanded cash and gold.

Police enquiries revealed that at about 3.40 am, two identifiable males entered the home via a door that the victims forgot to secure before retiring to bed.

The 36-year-old caretaker was awakened by the sounds of walking in the hall of the house. The sounds led her to investigate and it was at that point she was confronted by the two suspects, one of whom pointed a gun at her and told her not to make any noise.

While being held at gunpoint, he demanded she hand over money and gold and she told him that she did not have any. They then proceeded to take several articles from her bedroom.

The men then went to the room of the pensioner where they woke her up and again demanded gold and money.

The elderly woman became afraid and handed over $60,000 cash to the perpetrators. The men then picked up the victim’s other electronic articles which were in the hall of the house and escaped.

According to the police report, the bandits carted off two cellular phones valued $96,000, two laptop computers valued $153,000, two iPads valued $28,000 each, and two televisions valued $250,000.

Efforts were made to locate the suspects but were unsuccessful.

Investigations are in progress.
