Chairman of Region Six, David Armogan last week announced that three locations have been identified in the region for residents to lodge their claims and/or complaints in relation to the government’s flood relief grants.
The announcement came after Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo visited Region Six, where he held a series of meetings with persons from the various sectors. During the meetings he ordered the regional administration to put a mechanism in place and give one month to persons to lodge their claims of losses and/or complaints about the distribution of the flood relief grants.
At the region’s statutory meeting, Armogan pointed out that many persons had since made claims that they had suffered losses during the May-June flood but that their names were not recorded by the extension and technical officers.
“So that process is now re-opened and there are three areas that will be designated where you can go and make that report. One of the areas is going to be here at the region downstairs and the number is 333-2998,” Armogan informed.
The three locations are:
NAREI’s Office, #63 Benab: 338-2428
Albion Sports Complex: 624-1549/632-1530
Regional Democratic Office, New Amsterdam: 333-2998
The offices will function Monday to Saturday between the hours of 8 am to 4.30 pm
Noting that the offices would be in operation from Monday (last), Armogan said, “So those who would have lost and did not receive any benefit can come at these three offices.”
The chairman explained that once complaints are made, the reports would have to be verified after which they would be forwarded for possible payment.
He noted that there are reports of persons receiving the cash grants but who did not suffer losses as claimed, and as such persons are urged to step forward with any information they may have regarding this.
Like Jagdeo, Armogan emphasised that those reports will be investigated and “actions will be taken according to the vice president.”
