Three persons who are accused of trafficking 6.232 kilogrammes of cocaine in frozen curry and Pepperpot were on Friday charged and remanded.
Mallika Lambert, Rachiel Moore and Jevon James, made their appearance at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court where Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman read the charge to them.
They denied that on October 12, 2021, they had 6.232 kilogrammes of cocaine in their possession for the purpose of trafficking. The trio was remanded until November 11.
According to a release by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), Lambert, a nail technician, was an outgoing passenger on a Copa Airlines flight destined to Panama with onward connections to John F. Kennedy Airport. A search was conducted on luggage she had checked-in and the suspected cocaine was found concealed in a bowl of frozen curry and a bowl of frozen Pepperpot.
