The South Turkeyen Sports Committee announced that their pre-Youman Nabi three-a-side small-goal football competition, which was set for today, will now be staged on Tuesday at the Sophia Tarmac.
This was confirmed by an official release from the committee. The event is scheduled to start at 8:00am and will feature several teams from various villages from Georgetown and the East Coast of Demerara.
Kingston, Alberttown, Lodge, Meadowbrook, Better Hope, D’Urban Street, Sophia, Ogle, Tiger Bay, Vryheid’s Lust, and Plaisance are amongst the expected participants. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers.
Meanwhile, the committee also revealed plans to stage a Veteran’s three-a-side small-goal football competition on October 30th at the Buxton Tarmac.
Apart from the hosts, teams from the communities of Vryheid’s Lust and Melanie are scheduled to compete. Winners will also receive trophies and medals as well cash prizes. The sponsor of the event is the National Sports Commission. The organiser of the competition is Johnny ‘Overseas’ Barnwell.
