Star rider, Briton John emphatically snapped Jamual John’s winning streak to earn the spoils of the fourth Urban Benjamin Memorial road race yesterday in Essequibo.
John relentlessly attacked his namesake and breakaway mate about 20 miles from the finish and went on to solo to victory in the event which started and ended at Charity with Supenaam being the turn back point. The Independence Three-Stage champion, clocked 2h:54m.06s for the 70+ mile race to lead Jamual John and Romello Crawford onto the podium.
Jamual John was aiming to claim three wins in three weekends after winning the Wilbert Benjamin and the Kadir Memorial road races back-to-back, but Briton John’s heroics in the brilliant sunshine propelled him to victory.
