Thanks to standout Track and Field athlete, Chantoba Bright, Guyana finished with two medals at the South American Under-23 Championships which was staged in Ecuador during the weekend.
Bright snatched a silver in the triple jump and a bronze in the long jump event after disturbing the sand in 13.08m and 6.09m in the respective events.
Brazil’ s Nerisnelia Dos Santos barely out duelled Bright for the gold to win the event with a leap of 13.15m.
Dos Santos’ countrywomen, Thaina Fernandes (6.44m) and Lissandra Campos (6.33m) occupied the other podium spots ahead of Bright in her pet long jump event.
Guyana’s other representatives at the event, Noelex Holder (100m/200m) and Daniel Williams (200m/400m) failed to medal at the fixture.
Holder finished fifth in the 100m heat in a pedestrian 10.74s and sixth in the 200m heat in 21.72s. Williams ended seventh in the 200m final (21.59s) and fifth in the 400m final (48.99s).
