An Anna Catherina pedestrian is currently hospitalised after being struck down on the public road in a hit-and- run accident on Monday night.
The victim, 49-year-old Trevor Albert, of Lot 6 Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara, is currently a patient at the West Demerara Regional Hospital. His condition is listed as stable.
Police yesterday said that their investigations revealed that at about 6.20 pm a motor vehicle was proceeding west along the southern side of the road when it struck the pedestrian and drove away.
Public-spirited citizens who witnessed the accident, rushed to the pedestrian’s aid.
He was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to Leonora Cottage Hospital where he was examined and subsequently transferred to West Demerara Regional Hospital where he was admitted.
Investigations are ongoing.
