A fisherman who is suspected to have drowned was yesterday found at the No. 63 Beach, Corentyne, Berbice.
The Guyana Police Force said that the body of 47-year-old Persaud Vanryck of No. 64 Village, Corentyne Berbice was found by his son at the beach.
The police said that that the man’s 17-year-old son went to find him at the beach after he never returned from a trip there. The man had left to retrieve his seine between 9:00 hrs and 12:00hrs yesterday, but he did not return home.
The teen then went to look for his father and found his lifeless body floating next to the seine at the beach. The fisherman’s body was taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was officially pronounced dead on arrival. The body was checked for marks of violence but none was found.
