Dear Editor,
Kudos to the entrepreneurial spirit of the manufacturers of Topco products. Their prices are much lower those of other fruit beverages of similar quantity. However, it is perplexing that listed under Nutritional Facts in their unsweetened orange juice, is the absence of the Percentage of Daily Value with regard to the Total Sugars content. This juice states a high Total Sugars of 29 grams and the taste compounds the incredibility that it is unsweetened. Hence, it would appear to be a marketing strategy of not stating the Percentage of Daily Value of the juice’s sugar content. With a Total Sugars content of 29 grams per serving, it is almost the amount of the Recommended Daily Value or the Recommend-ed Daily Allowance of sugar per person.
Why would this item have been inspected and approved by the Bureau of Standards with regard to nutritional facts bring absent and questionable? Hopefully, the relevant authorities will respond to this letter and remove any fears about this apparently popular product. Many people suffering from diabetes and other illnesses depend on the nutritional facts, the serving size and the recommended daily allowance, listed on goods. They are advised by their doctors and health care professionals to observe these guidelines and adhere to the healthy composition of the foods and beverages they consume.
Sincerely,
Conrad Barrow
