Police are on the hunt for five bandits who allegedly carted off two safes and three canisters containing an undisclosed amount of cash during an early morning robbery on Friday at the DHL building, in Alberttown, Georgetown.
At the time of the robbery, which took place around 3.23 am, two unarmed security guards were on duty.
According to a police report, one of the security guard alleged that he was in front of the building when he was confronted by a masked suspect, who told him “don’t say anything”.
The security guard said he was placed to lie on his stomach and the suspects tied his hands using duct tape.
Police said that the security guard further alleged that the suspect was subsequently joined by four accomplices.
The other security guard, who was on duty, claimed he did not see or hear anything since it was raining.
The bandits gained entry to the compound by scaling the back fence. Upon entering the building, they grabbed the safes and cannisters and fled.
The police were informed and an investigation has been launched. Up to yesterday afternoon, no arrest has been made.
