An East Bank Demerara (EBD) resident was taken into custody yesterday following the alleged discovery of more than $4.7M worth of cannabis in his motorcar.
In a statement last night, the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) said that ranks acting on information received intercepted a motorcar in the vicinity of Rahaman Park, Houston, EBD.
A search was carried out during which eight bulky parcels containing suspected cannabis were found in the vehicle.
The drugs, CANU said, amounted to 15.6 kgs of foreign and local cannabis.
The suspect in custody has been identified as Duvendra Sukhdeo, a resident of Lot 14 Republic Park, EBD.
He was the driver of the vehicle at the time of the interception.
