The contractors involved with the City Hall restoration project conducted a preliminary site visit earlier this month and works are expected to start in November.
This was disclosed during the Mayor and City Council’s statutory meeting on Monday where Town Clerk, Candace Nelson said that the company which secured the $780 million contract, had conducted the visit in mid-October.
During the discussion on the restoration project, Georgetown Mayor, Ubraj Narine, inquired whether a commencement date was given to the council. Fides Guyana Incorporated which has its parent company in Trinidad, in late September signed a contract with the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development to carry out the rehabilitation works.
