Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the state-owned National Communications Network (NCN), Michella Abraham-Ali has been replaced by her deputy Neaz Subhan.
According to reports, the decision was announced at a managers’ meeting yesterday by the Chairman of NCN’s Board, Raymon Cummings.
NCN, in a subsequent statement, said it “…wishes to highlight that Ms Michella Abraham-Ali who was assigned temporary duties as acting CEO, has been promoted from her substantive position as Production Manager, Radio, to the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for radio development. The NCN management wishes to assure the public that it continues to develop and maintain a professional broadcasting entity.”
Abraham-Ali was appointed to the post of acting CEO in August of 2020 and a press release from Minister of Public Affairs, within the Office of the Prime Minister, Kwame McKoy indicated she would occupy the post until a substantive appointment was made.
Subhan, who headed the then Government Information Agency (GINA) for a number of years, was acting as Abraham-Ali’s deputy up until his promotion.
When contacted, Cummings explained that Abraham-Ali was appointed to act as CEO for just one month but that appointment was protracted due to a management transition at NCN. He added that she proceeded on leave some three months ago resulting in Subhan stepping up and a decision was later taken to have him remain in the post as acting CEO.
“A decision was taken for him (Subhan) to remain acting in that position and for her to be promoted to DCEO because her substantive position was a programme manager. The decision was taken at a meeting (of the Board) in September,” he said.
Abraham-Ali has returned to her job and is being transitioned to function as the deputy CEO according to Cummings.
The National Communications Network (NCN) has observed the online report by News Source today and wishes to highlight that Ms. Michella Abrahim-Ali who was assigned temporary duties as Acting CEO, has been promoted from her substantive position as Production Manager, Radio, to the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for radio development.
The NCN management wishes to assure the public that it continues to develop and maintain a professional broadcasting entity.
