Dear Editor,
Today I write to you regarding the recent launch of the four-month consultation on Guyana’s new Low Carbon Development Strategy. Without a doubt, it is important for countries to place more emphasis on reducing their carbon footprints and becoming carbon neutral. After reading through the LCDS 2030 plan, I must say that the strategy is a well thought out one. It is very important for Guyanese to recognize that the aim of this initiative is to protect and maintain Guyana’s forests in an effort to reduce global carbon emissions while at the same time, attract payments from developed countries for the climate services which will be provided through the said forests. Providing that Guyana continues down this path, the country will benefit significantly in a number of different ways.
Sincerely,
Alvin Hamilton
