Dear Editor,
One was surprised to note that the collection of banks who publicly warned regular customers about possible illegal incursions into their accounts by technologically smart invaders; and in the process alerted the latter about having to make smarter moves. In such an admitted security (?) environment, would it not have been advisable for ‘valued customers’ to be alerted of such a threat confidentially? Now everybody knows. Too many customers would be unduly apprehensive and, not unreasonably, choose to conduct similar transactions the old-fashioned way – across the counter. Was the Public Notice a productive security tactic? If not, appropriately trained, protective resources may have to be assigned.
Sincerely,
Valued Customer
