Dear Editor,
A letter was printed in the Sunday Stabroek of October 24 about pensioners at the periphery of Timehri in Region 3 having difficulty in getting their pension book for 2022 and the cash voucher.
It would appear that the distribution of these items is done for the convenience of people doing the distribution and not the infirm pensioners.
It was made known that the Timehri Police Station used to be the regular distribution centre for the pensioners living in Region 3 and close to Timehri.
It was recently made known that these pensioners are asked to hobble their way to Phoenix Park in Region 3 where their books can be uplifted.
This entails going to Timehri, joining a bus from there to the Harbour Bridge, joining another bus to take you across the bridge thence to Phoenix Park .This is repeated in the reverse on the return to Timehri.
This is lots of stress and money spent being a pensioner.
I doubt whether the subject minister will countenance such inconvenience to these pensioners when it can be avoided.
Please, those who are responsible for the distribution of these vouchers and pension books, look at the arrangement that will ease the difficulties of our aged folks
Yours faithfully,
