Dear Editor,
I read of the sad passing of the former prison officer who was shot during the 2002 jail-break.
For nineteen years after that dastardly occurrence she languished. If anyone is deserving of a national award it is Roxanne Winfield. I urge the authorities to seriously consider the posthumous bestowing of such an award on a deserving individual who put country above self.
A life well lived in service to country is now at rest. My condolences to her grieving family, relatives, friends and colleagues.
Just when can the nation expect this aspect of national life to be fulfilled?
Yours faithfully,
Shamshun Mohamed
