A Mahaicony miner was found dead last Friday at an interior location.
The Guyana Police Force said Christopher Abel, 62, of Lot 18 Catherine, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, had travelled to the Cuyuni River location without money to take care of himself to travel home. He was also reported to have been feeling unwell.
On Friday, around 05:30 hrs, his body was discovered by another man in the veranda of an abandoned shop.
Police examined the body for any marks of violence on the most exposed parts but nothing was found.
