Darrell La Fargue, the former Queensway Security Service worker who is accused of stealing millions from the company, was on Monday faced with 14 new charges.
La Fargue, of North Sophia, Greater George-town, was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus read the new charges to him.
He was charged with multiple counts of larceny by a clerk or servant. It is alleged that between July 10, 2021 and August 6, 2021, he stole a total of $474,854 from the company.
He was previously faced with a total of 30 charges relating to other amounts and was released on bail.
Policed Prosecutor Annalisa Brummell previously told the court that La Fargue is accused of stealing a hefty sum of money. She indicated that a total of 56 charges were expected to be brought against him. She also noted that over $3 million is alleged to have been stolen by the man. The prosecutor added that when the allegations were put to him, he had admitted to committing them.
The man, however, has denied the 44 charges brought against him thus far. His attorney asked that the court be lenient in setting bail. She said that the man’s family has been ensuring that he follows up with conditions for bail but she noted that due to the number of charges, she fears he might be placed on remand eventually. She also said that the man’s family was in discussions to have the proceedings against him settled.
He was subsequently released on $15,000 bail for each charge and the matter was adjourned until December 6.
