A COVID-19 death from the month of August was yesterday added to Guyana’s total number of fatalities from the virus.
The Ministry of Health announced in a press release that the death, which occurred on August 26, was belatedly being reported as its surveillance unit had only recently managed to do the data reconciliation. The deceased was an 84-year-old Linden woman, who was said to be unvaccinated.
With the death, the country’s total number of deaths from the virus increased to 926.
Meanwhile, the updated COVID-19 dashboard that was released by the ministry showed 62 new cases being reported after 1,013 more tests were done. It also showed that there were 2,561 active cases and 14 persons in the COVID-19 intensive Care Unit.
