Double murder accused Kapildeo Gangadin, who was recently recaptured after he escaped from the Lusignan Prison, was on Monday sentenced to three years in jail after he admitted to fleeing.
Gangadin, 24, of Annandale, East Coast Demerara, was sentenced at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court by Magistrate Fabayo Azore after he pleaded guilty to escaping from lawful custody.
Gangadin escaped from the quarantine section of the prison last Thursday. He was recaptured on the following morning at a police road block in the vicinity of Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara (WBD). At the time, he was the passenger of a route 32 minibus.
