$665M in contracts signed for agriculture sector works: The Ministry of Agriculture on Tuesday signed seven contracts totaling $665,706,092 for critical works. The ministry yesterday reported that contracts were signed for the construction of a pump station at Greenwich Park, East Bank Essequibo, pegged at $597,851,578, an access road at Garden of Eden, an asphalt drying floor at Lesbeholden and a processing facility at President’s College. While offering remarks at the signing, Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha said the contracts were considered critical and urged contractors to ensure the works are completed within the contractual timeframe. He also said that because of the scope of works, some of the contracts will be multi-year contracts, rolling over into the new year.
