The South Turkeyen Sports Committee (STSC) will stage three tournaments during the period of November 5th-7th, according to a release from the organization.
According to the correspondence, the committee will host a ‘King and Queen’ dominoes competition at the Guyana Legion Hall on Carifesta Avenue from 5:00pm on Friday. The sum of $1,000 is required for entrance to the competition. Trophies, compliments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will be awarded to the top finishers.
Meanwhile, a billiards tournament will be staged on Saturday at the same venue from 12:00pm. The entrance fee to that event is pegged at $2,000 per player, with trophies and cash prizes up for grabs for the resulting top three finishers.
Similarly, the committee will conduct a Champion-of-Champions’ three-a-side small-goal veterans’ football competition on Sunday at the National Park from 7:00am. Including Georgetown teams, sides from the villages of Melanie, Buxton, Vryheid’s Lust and Plaisance are scheduled to compete.
Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers. Among the sponsors for the football tournament are Antarctic Maintenance & Repairs, Alfred Mentore and Roysdale Forde, Attorney-at-Law and Member of Parliament, Ken Phillips and Attorney-at-Law Darren Wade.
