National junior cyclist, Mario Washington was recently recognized for his efforts as one of the best up and coming local talents by Crawford’s Trucking enterprise.
Washington, who represented Guyana at the junior Caribbean Championships when Bartica hosted the event back in 2019, has been one of the budding talents taking the sport by storm.
It was Washington’s continued push for excellence that inspired former national cyclist and owner of the trucking service, Franco Crawford to reward the 17-year-old.
Washington is currently vice-captain of Flying Ace Cycling Club and, according to his coach Randolph Roberts, he has been the exemplification of discipline.
Roberts has earmarked Washington as a future top seed in Guyana’s cycling if he continues to show the dedication he has been showing since his career started three years ago.
Washington was also exemplary in his studies, securing passes in 10 CXC subjects at the Line Path Secondary School.
The teenaged wheelsman also got support from another former national cyclist and bronze medalist at the World Masters, Cyril Hunte as well as Core Cycling team.
Washington expressed gratitude to coach Roberts, his family, Crawford, Hunte and Core Cycling for supporting him.
He said that he is very appreciative of them for recognizing his passion and love for the sport while promising to continue to make them proud by putting in the hard work and effort to become the best.
