In accordance with ICAO’s standards, CJIA is expected to conduct an Airport Emergency Full-Scale Exercise every two years to test the airport’s capabilities in the event of an emergency.
A release from CJIA said that the scenario enacted was a domestic carrier landing at CJIA with passengers who fell ill during the flight.
The agencies which participated included Port Health, Guyana Defence Force, Guyana Police Force, Guyana Fire Service, Airport Security Unit, the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and the Civil Defence Commission.
