A Diamond Housing Scheme man was yesterday freed of three-year-old possession of firearm and ammunition charges after a magistrate upheld no-case submissions.
Abdul Karim, of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, was arraigned at the Wales Magistrate’s Court, where the charges were dismissed by Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty.
Abdul was charged with having a firearm in his possession on December 22, 2018, at Meer Zorgen, West Bank Demerara, while he was not the holder of a firearm licence at the time. He was also charged with having seven rounds of ammunition in his possession.
His attorney, Bernard DaSilva, made no-case submissions, which were upheld yesterday when the matters were called. The charges were dismissed and Abdul was freed.
