West Indies women will now turn their attention to the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe but will be heading into that tournament well-prepped.

According to captain, Stafanie Taylor, the 3-0 win over Pakistan is huge for the side.

“I think this is huge, seeing we were coming off a defeat from South Africa and to come here and win 3-0, I think we haven’t done that in a while and it’s really nice that we get to do and get ourselves match- ready going into the qualifiers,” she said.

Taylor, who returned to the side after personal absence credited the efforts of several players within the squad for their dedication.

Among those receiving praise was Shemaine Campbelle who was out injured for over a year prior to the series.

“It’s really nice especially someone like Campbell, she has been out for a while and the way how she played was commendable. It was really nice to see Chedean [Nation] get some runs, it’s her first ODI [One Day International] fifty but the way she batted was brilliant.

Also, the Jamaican skipper pointed out that the team would also take the confidence boosting performance of Deandra Dottin who smashed her highest ODI score during the series.

She noted, “I think it’s nice too for Deandra’s confidence too, getting a hundred I know she didn’t do as well as she would have like in the past tours so it was really nice for her to get those runs.”

On a personal note, Taylor surpassed 5000 runs in the format with her seventh century of her career.

While not one to check on statistics, Taylor reasoned, “I love scoring runs, I love batting and once the team wins, I’m really happy about that… I’m hoping I get a hundred against the top teams.”

Taylor is one of three players with over 5000 runs and 50 dismissals in the field. She also has 146 wickets under her belt.
