A taxi driver from Reliance Village is currently in police custody assisting with investigations relating to the death of a female security guard. He was the last person seen with the female guard.
Dead is Indira Lall, 52, a mother of two from Affiance, Pomeroon-Supenaam.
Lall was with the taxi driver when she lost her life on Monday night. The driver told her daughter that the woman had called him to collect her and had stated that she was not feeling well. However, the autopsy conducted by government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh on Lall yesterday, revealed that she was strangled. Based on this information, investigators apprehended the taxi driver.
Her daughter-in-law, Emily Lall who spoke with Stabroek News, said that Lall left home around 7 pm on Monday for work at CV Nunes Primary School where she provides security services. Lall said that she was told that the taxi driver informed her sister-in-law that Lall called him and asked him to collect her and told him that she was not feeling well.
At around 23:00 hours the taxi driver showed up at the daughter’s home and told her that her mother was in the vehicle. When she checked, she saw her mother lying in the vehicle. “When I saw my mother liquid was oozing from her mouth, she told me she was not feeling well.”
The daughter then took her mother to the Suddie Public Hospital where she succumbed. Relatives knew that something was amiss concerning the security guard’s sudden death. When asked how long the security guard was using the services of the taxi driver, this newspaper was told that Lall knew the taxi driver for quite some time.
The security guard was said to be happily married.
The family is currently preparing for her funeral.
