Marcie De Santos, designer of the clothing line Marsae, launched her new hand-painted collection on Sunday.
The 20-piece untitled collection includes formal and casual wear — flowing dresses, short dresses and pants suits, all intricately designed with exquisite hand painting. Her previous collection was in May this year.
“Maybe you want a different colour, a different cut, something shorter, if you want something different from what’s online, all you need to do is call,” said the designer explaining that the ready-made pieces can also be custom-made.
Each piece is a masterpiece, which really is what Marcie intended. Once her creative juices start flowing, she lets them pour into her pieces.
“Some people would draw first before they start painting. I don’t draw. It’s all in my head; when I lay the fabric down, whatever happens, happens. If it’s messy then I turn it into something beautiful,” said the designer.
A Marsae designer piece is not only stylish but also of the highest quality. The designer only sources her materials from a retailer who imports them especially for her. The paints she uses are also imported, as Marcie only wants the best. The designer also pointed out that she chooses fabric that needs no ironing so that her pieces are wrinkle-free.
She explained that as part of staying relevant in the fashion industry it is important to keep putting out new collections. This is something that she does every few months. It pays to be consistent on the market, the designer added, noting that this prevented her business from being affected by the pandemic.
“Some people design because they earn from it but I design because I love doing this. I enjoy every minute of it. I enjoy when the client comes, when they put on their clothes and they become so excited. You see the excitement in their faces. It brings me so much satisfaction. I can’t see myself doing anything else. I just love, love, love what I do. Everytime I sit down, there is something new, it’s like I’m bursting with creative juices and I have to get it out and I express it all on the fabric. I credit all of it to God. He gave me the talent and it’s all Him,” said Marcie.
She pointed out that some of the colours used, like the reds, black, golds would work perfectly for the holidays also.
Much thought and passion are evident in Marcie’s pieces and none of her pieces is exactly like another; each is a one-of-a-kind.
