Ranks from the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Friday found a pistol and several rounds of ammunition at a Bourda Street, Bourda, Georgetown home.
In a press release, the GPF yesterday said that the ranks from the division arrested six persons at the property around 18:15 hrs.
The ranks reportedly went to the location after receiving certain information. Upon the arrival of the ranks, the suspects were seen gathered. The ranks then requested to conduct a search. A 19-year-old man who identified himself as the caretaker of the property gave permission and the search was carried out.
They were all taken into the house, where the search was conducted. While searching a bedroom, the police found an air pistol inside a cardboard box. A further search, Police stated, revealed ten 12-gauge cartridges, thirty-one .45 rounds of ammunition, fourteen .38 rounds of ammunition and forty-nine M15 rounds of ammunition in the kitchen area.
Five men and a woman who were present were all arrested and cautioned. The group denied having knowledge of the air pistol and ammunition and were all arrested and placed into custody. The police said that the air pistol and ammunition are presently lodged while the investigation continues.
